With barely few hours to the Gubernatorial and State House of Assembly elections, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has been urged to ensure that the shortcomings observed in the February 25th poll are properly addressed.
The Chairman, Vote Working group(VTG) Yiaga Africa, Ezenwa Nwagwu who stated this at a press conference in Abuja lamented that the discrepancies recorded during the presidential and National Assembly elections has impacted negatively in the integrity of the process, resulting in loss of confidence on the part of the electorates.
He however noted that the weekend election presents yet another opportunity for INEC to improve on some of the challenges that characterized the February 25 the election.
The need for security agencies to also brace up to their responsibilities was also highlighted at the briefing.
The Group indicated plans to l deploy the Parallel Vote Tabulation(PVT) to observe the governorship and state assembly elections and also called on political parties, candidates and their supporters to commit to a hitch free electoral process.
