4 days to the Governorship and State Assembly elections,the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC again played host to members of the Inter Agency Consultative Committee on Election Security ICCES with issues related to election security toping the agenda.
Addressing the meeting attended by the National Security Adviser, Gen Babgana Mongunu (rtd),INEC Chairman Prof Mahmood Yakubu commended the security agencies for putting up a good performance at the Presidential and National Assembly Elections held three weeks ago.
Yakubu who advance reasons why they should double their performance, considering that the election will hold in 1,021 constituencies across the country, vowed to prosecute person’s arrested for electoral offences.
Responding on behalf of the Security Agencies, the National Security Adviser, Babagana Mongunu warned political parties and their supporters against acts that could undermine the intergrity of the poll as security agencies would be on ground to do the needful.
The Saturday March 18th Governorship and state assembly election will hold in 28 states across the country.
