The federal government says over 869 billion naira is needed to conduct the 2023 population and housing census.
Speaking at a high-level partner engagement in Abuja, the Minister of State for Budget and National Planning, Clement Agba, said 46 percent of the sum has been provided by the government for the exercise.
Explaining that the census would be digital, green, and transformative, the minister solicited the support of major stakeholders to make the national head count a reality.
The minister of finance Zainab Ahmed on her part reeled out what Nigeria stands to benefit from the census exercise.
Other development partners including the UNFPA resident representative Ulla Mueller, spoke on the significance of population to growth and opportunities.
The 2023 Housing and Population Census is expected to be conducted in April after the 2023 general elections.
