As part of fallout of the 2023 general elections, the Inclusive Friends Association has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission to adequately implement extant laws and frameworks that will further improver Persons’ with Disabilities participation in electoral processes.
The Leadership of the IFA who made the call while addressing a press conference in Abuja to present their findings during the Presidential and National Assembly elections, noted that the challenge of accessibility, stigma and stereotypes has persisted and undermined the PWDs’ abilities to fully participate in electoral and political activities.
While the association commended the Independent National Electoral Commission for the strides taken to improve it’s voting priority policy, they further reeled out some recommendations that will ensure the continuous and effective participation of PWDs’ in the political and electoral processes.
They however gave a breakdown of their findings during the polls. There is no doubt that the Vote-ability campaign launched by the IFA in 2022 as a disability right movement aimed at increasing the Participation of PWDs’ in Nigerians electoral processes is becoming a great success.
