No fewer than 14 out of the 18 political parties participating in the 2023 general election have threatened to boycott the polls if the federal government succumbed to pressure to suspend the new naira redesign Policy.
The political parties made their position known at a Joint world press conference by the Forum of Chairmen of Nigerian Political Parties and Forum of Candidates for the 2023 General Election, held in Abuja.
Spokesperson of the Forum and the Chairman of the Action Alliance, Barr. Kenneth Udeze who briefed the media called on Nigerians to support the financial Policy as it will eliminate the worrisome trend of vote buying and other challenges that have characterized the nations electoral process in recent times.
He further alleged plans by some unscrupulous element to instigate violence that would lead to postponement of the election.
The party leaders however advised the CBN to ameliorate the hardship faced by Nigerians in accessing the new naira notes.
They also urged Nigerians to be patient with the government as the New naira redesign Policy if alled to stay will add value to the already battered nations economy.
