A coalition of Civil Society Organisation under the auspices of the Centre for Credible Leadership and Citizens Awareness has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC to respect the 9th May 2022 judgment of the supreme court that recognized Chief Edozie Njoku as the Nationa Chairman of the All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA.
Addressing a press conference in Abuja, the Chairman of the Coalition, Nwambu Gabriel stated that retention of Chief Victor Oye’s name on INEC’s website and his subsequent recognition as APGA National Chairman by the Commission poses a risk to the 2023 General Election.
Reiterating the Coalition’s confidence in Prof. Mahmood Yakubu’s led INEC and its National Commissioners, Nwambu urged the Commission to do what is right before the law as pronounced by the apex court.
The group further commended the decision by the nations electoral umpire to use technology for the conduct of this month’s general election saying it will help restore the confidence of Nigerians on the electoral process.
