The Independent National Electoral Commission INEC is to hold mock accreditation of voters for the 2023 general election on Saturday 4th February 2023 in 436 polling units nationwide.
INEC Chairman, Prof Mahmood Yakubu gave the indication at a meeting with Resident Electoral Commissioners in Abuja.
Prof Yakubu who said 12 polling units have been designated in each State of the Federation and four in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) urged registered voters in the affected polling units to appear on the scheduled date with their PVCs for the exercise.
The INEC boss said the gesture is to reassure the public of the robustness of the innovations to be deployed for the conduct of the general elections.
Prof Yakubu also applauded progress made in the Collection of Permanent Voters Cards nationwide, saying the Commission will not hesitate to consider additional measures to improve the process.
He further gave a breakdown of ongoing activities by INEC ahead of the general election. The meeting attended by Resident Electoral Commissioners across the country is expected to put finishing touches to the commission’s preparations for the 2023 General Election.
