NAFDAC Destroys N95Bn Unregistered, Illicit Drugs In Benin Rep.

The National Agency For Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) says, it has destroyed #95 Billion worth of unregistered pharmaceutical products at the Republic of Benin.

The Director General NAFDAC, Prof Mojisola Adeyeye disclosed this at a press briefing at the agency’s Headquarters in Abuja.

She said the agency while acting on intelligence report about the importation of some unregistered pharmaceutical products including Tramadol 200mg sustained its surveillance which forced the importers to divert 5 containers away from Nigerian port to that of neighbouring countries. Prof.

Adeyeye noted that, the international landmark achievement is the first of its kind, which took place despite the initial resistance NAFDAC encountered at the Republic of Benin as some entities took the matter to court which lasted for about a year.

Prof Adeyeye gave the analysis of the products found in the containers.

Meanwhile, NAFDAC boss said it will sustain its efforts of safeguarding the health of the nation.
