The Supreme Court has dismissed an appeal filed by Nuruddeen Abubakar and affirmed Hon.
Kasimu Bello Maigari as legitimate candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC) for Jalingo, Yorro and Zing Federal Constituency in the forthcoming general elections. When the matter came up before a five-man panel of the Apex court justices led by justice Inyang Okoro for hearing, the appellant Nuruddeen Abubakar could not produce results of the APC primary election he claimed to have won.
Haven failed to support the appeal he filed with material evidence against the election of Maigari, the Apex court reminded him of the futility of the exercise. He quickly withdrew the appeal prompting the Apex court justices to strike out the case for lack of merit.
Reacting shortly after the court proceedings, a Senior Legislative Aid to Hon, Maigari who is currently representing Jalingo, Yorro and Zing Federal Constituency at the National Assembly commended the decision of the court.
The cause of action between the parties arose on 17th June 2022 when APC submitted the name of Abubakar to the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC instead of Maigari.
Maigari who challenged the decision of his party at the Federal High Court Jalingo was declared duely elected APC candidate for the constituency but his challenger proceeded from the Appeal to the Supreme Court.
