As the 2023 general election approaches, a non governmental organization under the aegies of Association of World Peace Advocate(AWPA) has condemned the attacks on offices and facilities of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
The International spokesman of the AWPA, Emmanuel Nkweke condemned the act while addressing journalists at a World press conference in Abuja.
Nweke while expressing worry over the disturbing trend of attacks on the offices and facilities of INEC, stated that it is a potential threat to the electioneering process in the forthcoming election, hence the need to inform Nigerians on how important the commission is in achieving sustainable democracy through credible elections.
The international Spokesperson further who urged INEC to ensure that all Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) machines are properly configured in order not to fail in the forthcoming elections also advised the commission to embark on community electoral advocacy programmes.
He however appealed to Nigerians to consider INEC as their friend and also avoid acts that could affect the commission in achieving a free, fair and credible election.
