2023 AFR: Military, NGF Organise Sport Activities in Honour of Fallen Heroes.
As Part of Activities Lined up to commemorate the 2023 Armed Forces Remembrance Day Celebration, the Defence Headquarters in Conjunction with the Nigeria Golf Federation Organized a Golf Tournament in Honour of Fallen Heroes and Veterans who have Sacrificed for the Peace and Unity of the Country.
Speaking at the the Armed Forces Remembrance Day Golf Tournament In Abuja, the Chief of Defence Staff General Lucky Irabor emphasized the need for Personnel to Continue Keeping fit in order to enhance their performance in the fight against insurgency.
The CDS who was represented By the Chief Of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Oladayo Amao performed the golf tee off noting that it will help the service in generating funds that can be used to support veterans.
In his remarks the President Of the Nigeria Golf Federation, Otunba Runsewe who Lauded the efforts of the Military said the partnership with the Military will further enhance the relationship of the Armed Forces with Civilians as Golf in Nigerian has greatly Improved.
The Invictus games was also included in the sporting activities to recognize and help wounded soldiers through sports as well as inspire their recovery.
The sport activities which is aimed at carrying along members of the Armed forces and Veterans in the Spirit of the Remembrance Celebration was rounded up by the presentation of awards/gift to deserving winners.
