The Defence and Police Officers Wives Association has graduated 126 students from it’s skills Acquisition Centre in Abuja.
The Centre which was established in furtherance of the associations commitment to empower widows of fallen heroes and vulnerable youths with different vocational skills has so far graduated thirteen batches of beneficiaries.
Speaking at the graduation ceremony held at DEPOWA schools in Abuja, the Chief Of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Awwal Gambo applauded the efforts of DEPOWA in creating employment opportunities for families of fallen heroes and youths stating that it is a great initiative to mitigate the consequences of unemployment for national security.
Vice Admiral Gambo further urged the leadership of DEPOWA to monitor and ensure the beneficiaries put their skills to effective use.
Earlier in her remarks, the DEPOWA president, Barr. Vicky Irabor admonished the beneficiaries to make appropriate use of the skills they have acquired noting that mechanism has been put in place to track their performance.
Highpoints of the event was the presentation of certificates, starter packs, skills exhibition, among others.
