The National Commission for Person’s with Disability (NCPWD) has debunked allegations by the opposition People’s Democratic Party PDP alleging the refusal of President Muhammadu Buhari to implement the disability act. The Executive Secretary, NCPWD’s, James Lalu who reacted to the development at the Commissions headquarters in Abuja explained the process it took the PWDs to ensure the passage and signing the discrimination act into law. Stating that the act is presently been implemented in some states of the country, Lalu however urged the PDP presidential candidate,Atiku Abubakar to use his influence to ensure states like Sokoto,Delta and Adamawa key into the initiative. He further disclosed that due awareness is ongoing to ensure PWD’s vote for candidates that will prioritize their welfare Also, Lalu said efforts are on by the commission to commence the implementation of scholarships to persons with disabilities.
