The Nigeria Immigration Service(NIS) has affirmed its commitment in ensuring that the nation’s vast borders are completely secured.
In a statement signed by the Public Relations officer, DCI Tony Akuneme, the Comptroller General of the service, Isah Jere, made this known at the passing out parade of the maiden Nigeria Immigration Service Women Armed Squad Training in Ahoada, Rivers State.
Isah noted that as a stakeholder in the nation’s security, NIS had re-jigged its fight against terrorism, trans border crimes and other emerging security threats in the country.
He further stated gains made over the period of his administration on assumption of office to include; the welfare and well-being of our personnel, Capacity building for prompt, effective and efficient service delivery in line with international best practice amd ensuring the safety of our vast borders.
Also according to CG, the Service would continue training and other capacity building programmes within and outside the country to broaden the knowledge of officers and equip them to deliver on its mandate.
He advised the newly trained female officers to be focused and disciplined in carrying out their assigned duties.
About sixty one female officers were trained on weapon handling, combat craft, border security, counter terrorism techniques and intelligence gathering.
NIS Boss, further commended the management of the NIS for this foresight and the continuous drive to put the NIS in its rightful place in the quest to secure the country.
