World Toilet Day: FG Sets 2025 To End Open Defecation

As preparations geared up for the commemoration of 2022 World Toilet Day, the Federal Government says it will stop open defecation in the Country by the year 2025.

The Minister of Water Resources, Engr Suleiman Adamu, disclosed this at a press conference in Abuja.

According to the Minister, Nigeria, is the second in Africa to host the World Toilet Summit, adding that, the event will bring together stakeholders who will brainstorm on ways to address the sanitation crisis that affects over 3.6 billion around the world.

Adamu added that, sanitation challenge in Nigeria is unique where about 4 million Nigerians do not have access to safely managed sanitation facilities.

The Founder of the World Toilet Organization, Jack sim, said the summit will create a legacy for Nigerians and Africans at large.

The summit is scheduled to take place in Abuja on 18th and 19th of November 2022.
