As 2023 General Elections draw closer, the Nigeria Police Force has called on political actors to stop overheating the polity but play by the rules.
The Inspector General of Police, Usman Alkali made the call at a news conference at the Force Headquarters in Abuja on the 3rd edition of the Strategic Conference and Reatreat for Senior Police Officers coming up in Owerri, Imo State Capital.
Represented by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the police chief said any politician who is planning to engage in election malpractice should have a rethink as the era of ballots snatching is over.
Reassuring of a free, fair and credible polls in 2023 the IGP said the retreat will strengthen the resolve of the Police Managers and sister security agencies in perfecting their strategies for a hitch-free polls.
He further advised mischief makers to have a rethink or face the full wrath of the law.
The theme of the retreat for top officers from the rank of Police Commissioners is ” The Imperative of a Nigeria Police Strategic plan for peaceful Elections ” The three day conference in Owerri, Imo State Capital will last from Monday 31st October to Wednesday 2nd November 2022.
