The Ministry of Defence has debunked allegations of denying retired soldiers who staged a peaceful protest over the claims of not being paid their entitlements by the authorities of the ministry.
Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Defence, Dr Ibrahim Kana who denied the allegations brokered peace with the veterans protesting over issues of Security Debarment Allowance(SDA).
Kana who clarified that the sum of N134billion naira has been approved by President Muhammadu Buhari for the SDA noted that the money has not be released.
He further appealed to the Veterans to be a little more patient while the ministry ensures that funds are released and every Veteran gets their payment in accordance to their existing database.
Earlier the Spokesman of the Retired Veterans, Biodun Albert attributed the misinformation and insinuations to the Communication gap between the Veterans and the Ministry also rejects the payment of Veterans within two (2) to five (5)yrs.
The protesting retired soldiers have cleared barricade and evacuated the Ship House following the peace talk with the authorities, indicating that they have been better informed and promised to work closely with the Ministry henceforth.
