Just In: Group Faults Administration Of Criminal Justice System In Nigeria.

Criminal Justice system in Nigeria, just like in some African countries have a common denominator of widespread criminalization and punishment of petty offenders. The situation in most cases creates opportunity for violation of human rights and fundamental freedom of the poor,marginalised and vulnerable people. To address this perceived constitutional gap, a non governmental organization, the Prison Rehabilitation and Welfare Action (PRAWA) is pushing for Legislation that will attract alternative punishment for offenders. Commending the initiative,the Chief Justice of the Federal Capital Territory, Justice Ishaq Bello said it will help reduced incidents of unlawful detention and awaiting trials among other challenges in the nation’s judicial system
