The chairman of the Board of Trustees (BoT) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Walid Jibrin has resigned from his position for peace to reign in the party.

Jibrin made his decision known during the meeting of the BoT at the national secretariat of the party in Abuja.

Meanwhile the former president of Senate, Adolphus Wabara, has emerged the Acting Chairman of the party’s BoT following Jibrin’s resignation.

Jibrin was forced to step down by the seemingly intractable crisis rocking the PDP as a fall of the party’s presidential primaries which produced Atiku Abubakar, as the Candidate.

Some leaders of the party loyal to the Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, have also demanded the resignation of the party’s National Chairman, Iyiorcha Ayu, who had insisted that he would not resign.

Wike and his loyalists argued that the three top positions of the Presidential Candidate, the National Chairman and the Chairman Board of Trustees were occupied by the North.

But those supporting Ayu to stay insisted that the timing is not okay for his resignation ahead of the 2023 elections.
