The Petroleum And Natural Gas Senior Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) has disclosed plans to embark on a nationwide rally on 8th September 2022 to sensitize Nigerians on the negative implication of oil theft and vandalism in the country.
PENGASSAN President, Comrade Festus Osifor who disclosed this at a Press briefing in Abuja said the menace of oil theft and vandalism has drastically affected crude oil production from about 1.8million barrel per day to 1.1million barrel.
Attributing the challenge to part of reasons behind the federal government borrowings to fund some of it’s programmes, the union called for more sophisticated innovations to curb the menace.
Osifor further called on the government to review the existing template on pipeline protection in the country.
The Union threatened to embark on strike if the menace remains unchecked.
