Economic Diversification: FG Harps On Investing In Science Laboratory Technology Sector
The Federal Government has expressed confidence that Nigerian Institute of Science Laboratory Technology (NISLT), will boost the quest for economic diversification in the country.
A signed statement from the Ministry’s director of press, Atuora Obed disclosed that Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) Dr. Adeleke Olorunnimbe Mamora said this in Ibadan during his one day working visit to NISLT office.
The Minister emphasized that the nation cannot make any meaningful economic progress without investing in Science Laboratory Technology Sector which is a major source of innovation increase in revenue generation, job creation and self reliance.
Dr. Adeleke said that the Institute has performed well despite financial constraint and other challenges militating against the desired progress of the organization, stating that government will improve the fund allocation of the Institute but charged it to prioritize its projects and programmes so as to save fund for implementation of the most important projects.
The Minister was given Honorary Award of the ‘Fellow of the Institute’ by the organization.
Earlier, the Director-General and the Chief Executive Officer of the NISLT, Gbadegesin Y.H. said that the institute has various challenges particularly poor funding.
He stressed that inadequate funding has jeopardized NISLT’s prompt desire to achieve its mandate and then called on the minister to assist in improving the budgetary allocation to the institute by the Federal Government.
