The Federal Government has inaugurated the Board of chartered Institute of Treasury Management. According to the Minister of State for Education, Goodluck Nanah Opiah who performed the inauguration ceremony, treasury management is mandatory for any nation that desires development.
He congratulated the council members and urged them to work towards achieving the mandate establishing the institute.
The Minister also reacted on the importance of the CITM to the education sector, citing that it would ensure that finances allocated to the sector are judiciously utilised. Earlier in his remarks, the Registrar of the Institute, Adedoyin Olumide, who gave a brief history of the Institute, harp on the vision to build world-class treasury personnel that are conversant with the complexities of modern treasury management.
The institute of Treasury management was established with mandate to institutionalize preventive mechanisms against fraud, outright embezzlement, misappropriation of funds and misapplication in the management of Treasury.
