The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC, Prof Mahmood Yakubu has indicated plans by the commission to publish the personal particulars of candidates nominated by their political parties for Governorship and state assembly elections.
Prof Yakubu disclosed this at the swearing in ceremony of a new Resident Electoral Commissioner,Hale Gabriel Longpet at the Commissions headquarters in Abuja.
He said the particulars which will be published on Friday 22nd July 2022 conforms with the electoral act line with activities lined up for the 2023 general elections.
He urged Nigerians to scrutinize the candidates particulars and seek legal redress where necessary. Welcoming the Resident Electoral Commissioner, Prof Yakubu advised him to familiarize himself with the laws guiding the operations of the commission and avoid acts that could undermine the confidence of Nigerians on the electoral Process.
The REC, Hale Gabriel Longpet on his part assured of his readiness to deliver on his mandate without fear or favour. Longpet has been posted to Kogi state as the President Electoral Commissioner.
