The ruling All Progressive Congress APC has unveiled and presented former Governor of Borno state, Senator Kashim Shetimma as it’s vice presidential candidate for next year’s general election.
Presenting his running mate to the party leadership in Abuja, the APC presidential candidate Ashiwaju Bola Tinubu, said Senator Kashim Shettima’s career in politics and beyond shows that he is eminently qualified for the position.
He assured that the former Governor is armed with the required potentials that would further drive the party aspiration to remain in power beyond 2023.
In his remarks, APC National Chairman, Senator Abdullahi Adamu said the Tinubu/ Shettima joint ticket is a product of wide consultations among various party stakeholders including President Buhari.
Meanwhile, Senator Shetimma in his acceptance speech, appreciated the party leadership and other stakeholders for trusting him to represent the interest of the nation. He added that his emergence as the APC vice presidential candidate is based on the party’s forthright assessment of the threats ahead.
Despite the opposition that heralded the Muslim Muslim ticket of the ruling APC for the 2023 presidential election, the ceremony held at the party’s headquarters in Abuja attracted large attendance of religious leaders especially from the Christian faith.
