Sallah: Muslim Faithful Lament High Cost Of Rams In Abuja, Environs.

Eid el kabir is the festival of sacrifice observed by the Muslim ummahs all over the world.

It is significant with slaughtering of rams to commemorate Prophet Ibrahim’s Obedience to Allah by sacrificing his son Ishaku. Expectations are high as Muslim faithful in the federal capital territory make last minute preparation ahead of the Sallah celebration.

However, the joy of many celebrants may be cut short due to the unfavourable economic reality in the country.

A survey by Channel Network Afrique at the Popular Kugbo livestock Market in Abuja revealed that rams are been sold at exorbitant prices ranging from 50,000 naira to as high as 300,000 naira.

The situation however did not affect sales as most sellers were seen making brisk business. The need for the federal government to address the nations security concerns and other related challenges according to some residents will help in no small measure to reduce the alarming cost of rams in future sallah celebrations.
