In a bid to reclaim power from the ruling All Progressives Congress, the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party has organized a sensitization campaign, calling on Nigerian Youths to obtain their permanent voters’ cards (PVCs) and to vote out APC in 2023 general elections.
PDP officials and supporters kicked off the sensitization campaign from the party’s alternate national Secretariat, Legacy House to other major streets in the Abuja metropolis.
The campaign train was spiced with music as party officials and supporters brandished various inscriptions like PVC your power, PVC Your Right, Go get your PVC among others. Speaking with newsmen before embarking on the road show,some members of the PDP National Executive Committee (NEC) said the exercise was initiated as part of efforts to get Nigerians especially the youths involved in the electoral process.
It is expected that campaigns such like this by the PDP will change the narrative and get more Nigerians pick interest in politics as observers report from from various off-season elections organised by the Independent National Electoral Commission indicates challenges of voter apathy among other electoral vices.
