Just In: Nigeria Sets Up Automobile Hubs, Loses 8 Billion Dollars Annually To Import
In line with its National Automotive Development Plan, the Nigerian Government has set up automotive hubs in three strategic locations, that is, Nnewi, Oshogbo and Kaduna to encourage the massive production of brand new vehicles in the country. The Director General, National Automotive Design and Development Council, Jelani Aliyu who disclosed this at a media interactive session in Abuja said the move was to discourage importation of vehicles into the country, which gulps about eight billion dollars annually. He said to that effect, twenty thousand youths were trained on mechatronics to ensure that Nigeria has skilled labour to support its automotive transformation.
