2023: IPAC Solicites UN Support To Deal With Voters Inducement, Other Electoral Offences.

The Inter Party Advisory Council IPAC has solicited support of the United Nations to reduce to the bearest minimum the rising trend of electoral challenges like voter inducement, violence and other vices that recently characterised the nation’s electoral space.

IPAC Chairman, Engr Yabagi Sani gave the indication when a delegation from the United Nations led by the Special Representative to West Africa and the Sahel, Annadiff Saleh paid a working visits to the Council’s office in Abuja.

Yabagi who commended the World body for its interest in the growth of Nigeria’s democracy, said more work is required to sanitize the system irrespective of the reforms and innovations introduced by the Independent National Electoral Commission.

Earlier, the UN Special Representative to West Africa and the Sahel, Annadiff Saleh said the team was in Nigeria to engage with relevant stakeholders on need for a peaceful 2023 general elections.

The UN delegation had earlier met with INEC and the leadership of key political parties in Nigeria.
