The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), has confirmed 41 cases of monkeypox with one death as at 19th of June, 2022.
Among the confirmed cases, the Center insists that there is no evidence of new or unusual transmission of the virus or changes in its clinical manifestation as compared to other countries of the world.
NCDC Director General, Ifedayo Adetifa, made this known at a ministerial press briefing on COVID-19 and other related health issues organised by the Federal Ministry of Health in Abuja.
He said the centre has continued to lead the monkey pox response through its Emergency Operations Centre.
The briefing had Representatives of other heads of health agencies who took turns to highlight their achievements and measures put in place by the government to address other health related issues.
Other takeaways from the briefing indicated summary of measures put in place by the Federal Government to tackle the COVID-19 pandemic with over 21 million person’s fully vaccinated.
