Just In: Safe Water, Stakeholders Call For Realistic Interventions
There is no doubt that Safe drinking water is a luxury in Nigeria . This is as a report by the United Nations, indicates that only 19 percent of Nigerians have access to it . Globally,it is estimated that 80 percent of people who use unsafe and unprotected water sources live in rural communities. The implication of this development if left unaddressed could result to about 700 million people worldwide displaced by intense water security by the year 2030. This the Nigerian government say it is already addressing through the initiation of various water intervention policies especially in rural communities. At a ceremony to commemorate the 2019 World water Day, the permanent secretary, federal ministry of agriculture and rural development, Mohammed Umar said the interventions are already yielding the desired results.
