Nigerian Armed Forces has destroyed 40 illegal refineries,165 metal storage tanks, 72 ovens, 23 dug out pits and 5 wooden boats in the south south region of the state. The feat was achieved by troops of Operation Octupus Grip and Operation Delta Safe.
Addressing a news conference in Abuja to the stride of the armed forces on various operations across the country, the Coordinator, Defence Media Operations, Major General, Bernard Onyeuko said twenty one suspects were apprehended as troops conduct operational activities in the creeks, towns and communities to ensure that oil theft and sabotage to the economy is significantly reduced.
He also said troops of Operation Hadin Kai while repelling terrorist attack at Firm Base Arege in Abadam Local Government Area of Borno State, killed 14 terrorists as well as arrested 15 with diverse arms and ammunitions.
The Defence Operations Spokesman also touched on activities of troops of operation Hadarin Daji and whirl stroke against bandits and other criminal elements in Zamfara, Sokoto and Nasarawa state. Gen Onyeuko further called on Nigerians to always volunteer information to the armed forces and other security agencies in order to save the nation from the clutches of insecurity.
