2023 Census: NPC Trains Journalists,To Conduct Mock Census In June

The National Population Commission NPC has assured of continuous engagement with the media to deliver on its mandate to conduct a successful and credible population and housing census in 2023.

NPC Chairman, Hon Isa Kwarra said this while declaring open a 3 day workshop Organised by the commission for population correspondents in Nassarawa State.

He expressed optimism that the platform will enhance the productivity of the participants in Effective reportage of activities of the commission to Nigerians before the buildup and post census exercise.

The NPC boss further solicited the support of all stakeholders to enable the commission deliver a credible and reliable data that will be useful for the nation’s sustainable development plan.

Hon Kwarra also used the opportunity to highlight some of the activities implemented by the commission for a successful census exercise.

In their remarks, the NPC Chairman, Public Affairs committee Eyitayo Oyetunji and representative of the NUJ chairman FCT chapter, Gloria Essien called on the media to support the 2023 census advocacy by ensuring adequate reportage of the census activities.

Other takeaways from the opening session of the workshop includes the plan to conduct a trial census exercise in June 2022.

The theme of the 3 day workshop is ” Getting the People involved”.
