2023: Women Will Nolonger Vote Sheepishly If,Tallen Warns.
Ahead of the 2023 general elections, the minister of Women Affairs, Pauline Tallen has called for increased participation of women in governance. The Minister who gave the indication at a news briefing in Abuja on the status of women inclusion and participation in all levels of national development said enough is enough as women will nolonger support or vote blindly at next year’s general elections.
Tallen lamented that despite the numerical strength of women in the political process, they still struggle to have a formidable voice in governance. She however restated the resolve to change the narrative, saying only Political Parties with at least 35% female representation will be supported.
The Minister who further recounted the recent shoddy treatment and rejection of five gender related Bills by the Legislators said it is no longer business as usual. She indicated plans to launch an initiative tagged “Women Reconnect for New Nigeria Initiative (WR4NNI) as a new social mobilization and sensitization movement to galvanize women to participate fully and equitably in the processes leading to the 2023 general elections and beyond.
