The astronomical rise in cases of domestic violence in Nigeria has become a major source of concern.Statistics revealed that about 50% of women, 25% of men in the country have experienced physical, sexual and psychological abuse in recent times.
This development brought to mind the untimely and painful death of one of Nigeria’s leading gospel music artists, Osinachi Nwachukwu who was allegedly battered by her husband, Peter Nwachukwu which elicited nationwide condemnation.
Speaking at a news conference in Abuja, a Mental Health Therapist and founder, Purple Life Connections, Mima Odiegwu while suggesting ways to check escalating spousal abuse said her agency has rescued hundreds of people faced with mental health challenges.
The foremost Marriage Counsellor and Television Hostalso lend her voice to the call by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for politicians to undergo psychiatric evaluation and drug test before the 2023 general elections.
She further spoke on sundry issues bordering on insecurity and abuses of vulnerable children .
