As Nigeria commemorates the National Albinism day the Federal Government has been urged to review previous administration’s skin Care Intervention programme for Persons With Albinism.
The President, Albinism Association of Nigeria, Jake Epele who made the call at a press conference to commemorate the National Albinism Awareness Day in Abuja said the intervention will initiate the requisite Policy instrument that will help assuage the plights of Persons with Albinism
. According to Epelle, the Scourge of skin cancer is not only life threatening but functionally decimating the lives of persons with Albinism as statistics reveal that about three (3) persons die from it every month.
He said the Federal Government as a matter of urgency should include skin cancer care to it’s Health Fund initiative in order to alleviate the plights of Persons with Albinism and others suffering from skin cancer.
Epelle also used the opportunity to commend the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, Jamb, for the special inclusiveness of Persons With Disabilities in the forth coming examination.
The foundation further called on relevant authorities to support it’s efforts at driving the Sun protection Campaign targeted at protecting and Advancing the interest of Albinos in Nigeria.
