Just In: Update on Rivers APC Primaries, Supreme To Hear Matter On March 26.
The Supreme Court will commence hearing on the appeal seeking to determine the authenticity of the direct primary conducted by the All Progressive Party in Rivers State for nomination of its candidates for the 2019 general elections. The suit brought before the apex court by Senator Magnus Abe is also seeking final pronouncement on the legality of both direct and indirect primary polls conducted by the two factions of the party in the state. Counsel to senator Abe, Henry Bello had earlier moved a motion praying the court to grant accelerated hearing in the matter, as well as state the time within which parties are to file their processes and a definite date for hearing of the appeal. However, Celestine Agidi, who stood in for Tonye Cole did not object to the motion but pleaded that 24 hours will not be sufficient for him to file his brief of argument.
