Workers’ Day: FG Pledges Commitment To Workers’ Welfare
As Nigerian Workers commemorate the 2022 workers Day edition, the Federal Government has restated commitment to inclusive and sustainable development that is anchor to decent work.
Vice President Yemi Osinbajo gave the assurance at the ceremony held at Eagle Square in Abuja.
The VP said, the welfare of Nigerian workers is a top priority of the President Buhari led administration as the government is working towards addressing the challenges faced by workers.
Earlier in his remarks, the Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, advocated the need for workers to discard negative tendencies that could frustrate government efforts to address their challenges.
Meanwhile, President of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Comrade Ayuba Wabba, while lamenting several concerns indicating government insensitivity to the plight of workers issued an ultimatum for resolution of the disputes with University Workers.
The theme for this year’s Workers Day celebration is : Labour, Politics and Quest for Good Governance and Development in Nigeria.
