Ahead of the 2023 General elections, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has settled for indirect primaries as a means of electing it’s candidates as the party rules out consensus.
This resolution was adopted at the party’s 11th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting and the first of Abdullahi Adamu-led National Working Committee(NWC), in Abuja.
Speaking at the event, President Mohammadu Buhari cautions the leadership of the party against imposition of candidates that cannot win elections.
On his part, the National Chairman of the party, Abdullahi Adamu, accused some current and past governors of tearing the party apart.
The National Secretary, Iyiola Omisore and some major stakeholders also spoke on key decisions taken by the party at the NEC meeting.
The NEC meeting was attended by President Muhammadu Buhari, Vice President Yemi Osibanjo, President of the Nigerian Senate Ahmed Lawan, Speaker House of Representative, Femi Gbajabiamila, State Governors, National Assembly members among other top party chieftains.
