Breaking: AUPCTRE Pickets Fidelity Bank As Police Shot At Members Of Trade Union

This are members of the Amalgamated Union of Public Corporation, Civil Service, Technical and Recreational Services Employees picketing the Abuja Regional Office of the Fidelity Bank Plc for flagrant disregard of court order in respect of payment of salaries and arears of staff of the Anambra State Environmental Protection Board.

Members of the Union in Anambra State won a case against the state government for owing them salaries of over thirteen years.

Despite the government giving directives for the payment of the money, two banks complied except Fidelity Bank.

But the Union insist that, there will be no going back until the bank remit the money to the aggrieved members.

A representative of the bank tried to persuade the union members to leave the environment but to no avail.

Earlier, there was however, a slight panic and uncertainty around the area as some police personnel on duty at Fidelity Bank shot to scare the union members on a peaceful protest but the situation was brought under control by the arrival of the Department of State Security, DSS.

Bank officials and customers were prevented by the union from accessing the premises. The picketing of Fidelity Bank is a spontaneous action across the country.
