8 Terrorists Neutralized, 11 Surrender As Military Destroy Notorious Enclaves In Borno Offensive
Troops of Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) have intensified their offensive against Boko Haram and ISWAP elements in Borno State, resulting in the neutralization of eight terrorists and the surrender of 11 others.
In a statement signed by the Media Information Officer for the Joint Task Force Northeast, Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba and madeavailabletoChannelNetworkAfrique, CNA, the military detailed several successful engagements conducted under the banner of Operation DESERT SANITY V.
Surrenders and Tactical Pressure
On January 10, 2026, sustained military pressure along the Azir–Wajiroko axis forced 11 terrorist fighters to lay down their arms. The surrendering insurgents turned over a cache of AK-47 rifles and various assortments of ammunition to the frontline troops.
Destruction of Terrorist Enclaves
The military’s success followed extensive clearance operations on January 9 in the Bulaagalda cluster. During these raids, troops successfully destroyed several active enclaves, including the notorious Abu Nazir and Abu Ahmed camps. Other camps leveled during the operation were located in:
Dagumba and Bonne
Yaganari and Gosuri
Umchile
Beyond destroying physical shelters, troops dismantled “life-support structures,” degraded logistics bases, and recovered insurgent flags and weaponry. Similar operations in the Yale and Bula Gaida areas forced remaining terrorists to flee, abandoning a General Purpose Machine Gun (GPMG) and additional ammunition.
Neutralizations and Arrests
In a separate engagement fueled by credible intelligence, troops intercepted JAS/ISWAP elements between the villages of Sojiri and Kayamla. Eight terrorists were neutralized during the encounter, and several AK-47 rifles were recovered from the scene.
Addressing the insurgents’ supply chain, troops also apprehended two suspected logistics collaborators in the Gubio Local Government Area. The suspects are currently being investigated for supplying essential materials to terrorist groups in the region.
Commitment to Security
Lieutenant Colonel Uba emphasized that the military remains resolute in its mission to dismantle terrorist networks and restore lasting peace to the North East. The recent successes underscore a continued momentum in degrading the operational capabilities of extremist groups in Borno State.
