The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Joash Amupitan, says the technical glitches that marred the 2023 general elections will be completely eliminated ahead of the 2027 polls.
Amupitan gave the assurance at a Citizens’ Town Hall Meeting organised by the Civil Society Network on Electoral Integrity in Abuja.
He pledged that the 2027 general elections would be the best in Nigeria’s history, citing reforms introduced by the Electoral Act 2026.
However, Amupitan cautioned against unrealistic expectations regarding real-time uploads of results.
Earlier, Executive Director of Yiaga Africa, Samson Itodo, said the town hall meeting is part of ongoing sensitisation efforts by civil society groups to promote an inclusive and credible 2027 general election.
The Town Hall Meeting is themed: “What It Means for Your Vote and the 2027 Elections.”
