2026 UTME: JAMB Suspends Selection of Examination Towns In Ekiti.

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has suspended the selection of examination towns for candidates registering for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) who intend to sit the examination in Ekiti State.

In a statement issued by the Board’s spokesman, Dr Fabian Benjamin, the suspension was described as a temporary measure aimed at restructuring examination towns in the state to ensure centres are closer to candidates and to ease transportation challenges on examination days.

According to the statement, although candidates are ordinarily allowed to choose examination towns closest to their locations, the 2026 UTME registration commenced before JAMB detected structural anomalies in the configuration of examination towns in Ekiti State.

This development, the Board said, necessitated urgent adjustments in the interest of candidates.
As a result, candidates will be unable to select any examination town in Ekiti State while the adjustment process is ongoing.

JAMB noted that the exercise is expected to be concluded shortly.
The Board expressed regret over any inconvenience the temporary suspension may cause candidates wishing to select examination towns in Ekiti State during the ongoing registration exercise.

It added that JAMB continuously monitors its operations and promptly addresses challenges reported by candidates.

Benjamin further assured that the Board remains committed to improving its processes and ensuring that all candidates are treated with dignity and respect.
