As Nigeria joins the rest of the World to mark the International Labour Day, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has pledged better living and working condition for Nigerian workers. President Tinubu gave the assurance, at the Eagle Square in Abuja while delivering his 2024 May Day message.
Represented by the Vice President, Kashim Shettima, Tinubu said he will do everything within his power to ease the current economic situation of the workers.
On her part, the Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Nkeiruka Onyejeocha said the recently approved Consolidated salaries structure for workers will take effect from. May 1, 2024.
Earlier, the Nigerian Labour Congress President Comrade, Joe Ajaero and his Trade Union Congress’ counterpart, Comrade, Festus Osifo express worries over the current hardship, state of insecurity bedeviling the nation.
The theme for the first May Day Celebration under President, Bola Tinubu’s administration is : “People First”.
