1.6m Candidates Sit for 2023 UTME as Examination Begins Nationwide.

The 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) commenced on Tuesday April 25th with over 1.6 million candidates registered to sit for examination nationwide. 

According to the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board JAMB, the Candidates are expected to take the UTME in batches in the approved 600 computer based centres nationwide.

A visit to one of the CBT centres in the Abuja metropolis, candidates were seen with their parents as early as 6:30 am waiting for the examination to commence.

They were later subjected to mandatory biometric verification process before admitted for the actual test.

One of JAMB monitor, Abdulraham Balogun who was on ground to monitor the examination expressed worry over the late commencement of the exercise.

He blamed candidates for not adhering to instructions as laid out by JAMB. Meanwhile, some of the candidates that spoke with Channel Network Afrique after the examination commended the process saying it was hitch free.

The 8-day examination is expected to end on Wednesday May 3, 2023.
